This List of Football League teams includes teams that have played in the Football League from its formation in 1888 to the present day. It shows the area the team represents and also where the area in which the home ground is situated differs.
Notes
- ↑ Woolwich Arsenal moved to Highbury, Middlesex and were renamed simply Arsenal
- ↑ Bristol City's home ground is in that part of the city south of the Avon
- ↑ Bristol Rovers' home ground is in that part of the city north of the Avon
- ↑ Chelsea's home ground is in Fulham, Middlesex
- ↑ Grimsby Town's home ground is in Cleethorpes, Lincolnshire
- ↑ Clapton Orient moved to Leyton, Essex and were renamed Leyton Orient
- ↑ Millwall moved to New Cross, Surrey in 1910 before moving to Bermondsey, also in Surrey, in 1993.
- ↑ Wimbledon moved to Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire and were renamed Milton Keynes Dons
