The County of Argyll is a county of mountains, peninsulas and islands. It encompasses most of the Inner Hebrides.

Geography

Argyll's neighbouring counties are Inverness-shire to the north, Perthshire and Dunbartonshire to the east, Renfrewshire to the southeast and Ayrshire and Buteshire to the south. Renfrewshire and Ayrshire are the other side of the Firth of Clyde, whereas Buteshire is a county of islands in the firth.
