West Gilling Wapentake shown within the North Riding and Yorkshire

West Gilling is a wapentake in the North Riding of Yorkshire, adjacent to the borders of County Durham and Westmorland. It is bounded by East Gilling to the east; and by Hang East and Hang West to the south. County Durham lies to the north, with Westmorland to the west. In 2011, it had a population of 18,742.

It comprises the ancient parishes of:
