Whitby Strand
Whitby Strand is a wapentake of the North Riding of Yorkshire. Adjacent wapentakes are Pickering Lythe to the south and west; and Langbaurgh to the north. Whitby Strand had a population of 18,460 in 2011.
The wapentake takes its name from the town of Whitby, which it contains.
It comprises the ancient parishes of:
- Fylingdales
- Hackness
- Sneaton
- Whitby (except Aislaby)*
*: In Langbaurgh wapentake. Aislaby is sometimes included with the rest of Whitby in Whitby Strand.
