Beara-Breifne Way
The Beara-Breifne Way is a long distance walking and cycling trail being developed to run through the Republic of Ireland from the Beara Peninsula in County Cork, Ireland, to Blacklion in County Cavan, which was once part of the Kingdom of Breifne.
It is to run through Counties Kerry, Cork, Limerick, Tipperary, Offaly.
The trail follows closely the line of the historical march of Donal Cam O'Sullivan Beare in January 1603 as he fought a long rearguard action from his home in Beare northwards through Munster, Connaught and Ulster.[1] O'Sullivan was the last independent ruler of the O'Sullivan Beara sept, on the Beara Peninsula, but his rule came to an end as his expedition failed in Ulster.
