The Calf of Flotta is a small island lying within Scapa Flow, in Orkney. The Calf lies beside Flotta; 'Calf' is a Norn description of a smaller island by a larger one, the calf to the cow.

Geography and geology

The Calf is made of red sandstone.[1]

It is approximately half a mile long, and is thin in shape, orientated west-east.
