The Upper Ward is one of the wards of Lanarkshire, forming the southern part of the county. It is bounded to north-west by the Middle Ward; to the north-east by Midlothian; to the east by Peeblesshire; to the south by Dumfriesshire; and to the west by Ayrshire. It is the most rural and least populous of the wards, with a population of 61,599 in 2011.
