Lamington and Wandel
Lamington and Wandel is a parish in the Upper Ward of Lanarkshire, comprising the ancient parishes of Lamington and Wandel. It is bounded to the north by Symington; to the noorth-east and east by Culter; to the south by Crawford; and to the west by Crawfordjohn and Wiston and Roberton. The River Clyde forms most of the western boundary of the parish, running north-easterly for some 8¾ miles from Abington at the south-eastern corner.
The ancient parishes of Lamington and Wandel were joined in 1608, with Lamington forming the northerly portion, and Wandel the southerly.
Junction 13 of the A74(M) motorway lies just outside the south-western bounds of the parish. Although the West Coast Main Line railway passes through, there has never been a station in the parish, the nearest being at Abington and Lamington (both closed 1965).
