Bassetlaw Wapentake in Nottinghamshire

Bassetlaw is one of the wapentakes or hundreds of Nottinghamshire, in the north of the county, adjacent to the borders with Derbyshire, Lincolnshire and Yorkshire. It is bounded by Thurgarton Wapentake to the south; by Broxtow to the south-west; by Derbyshire to the west; by Yorkshire to the north-west; and by Lincolnshire to the east. It had a population in 2011 of 156,901, falling slightly to 156,364 if detached parts are disregarded.

It comprises the ancient parishes of:

*: Bawtry and Austerfield townships in Yorkshire.
: Remainder in Thurgarton wapentake.
: Remainder in Lincolnshire.
§: Extends into Yorkshire.
