Mamlorn Hills
The Mamlorn Hills are a small group of mountains within the Highlands. Thery are in western Perthshire, east of Crianlarich, around the head of Glen Lochay. Down the glen flows the River Lochay to wards Loch Tay, and the Mamlorn Hills are in a half-ring around the upper course of the river.
The valleys to the north and south of the group are those of Loch Lyon and the River Dochart respectively. To the east are the more intensive peaks of the Lawers Hills
The Mamlorn Hills have a central position amongst surrounding ranges and contain six "munros"; mountains over 3,000 feet, and so they give extensive views all around, includings signhts as far as Ben Nevis and even to the Cairngorms in clear weather.
Climbing
These are popular hills, close to the central location of Crianlarich, and with roads close enough for a good start, and even a cyclable track up Glen Lyon (to the dam on the loch. There are many known ways up and sights to explore. On Beinn Heasgarnich, from its long ridge a climber may descend among complex burns and pretty waterfalls. Amongst the hills south of the loch, Sgiath Chuil forms part of a horseshoe ridge for a fine day's walk out to a sight os Loch Tay.
