West ward in Westmorland

The West Ward is one of the wards of Westmorland, forming part of the Barony of Westmorland. As its name suggests, It is situated in the west of the county, bounded to east by the East Ward; to the south by Kendal Ward; and to the west and north by Cumberland. The ward had a population of 7,594 in 2011.

The hundred comprises the ancient parishes of:

: Bank Moor is common to the ancient parishes of Crosby Ravensworth (West Ward) and Asby (East Ward), but taken as part of the West Ward. Crosby Ravensworth Fell is common to the ancient parishes of Orton (East Ward) and Crosby Ravensworth (West Ward), but taken as part of the West Ward. Birkbeck Fells is common to the ancient parishes of Orton (East Ward) and Crosby Ravensworth (West Ward), but taken as part of the East Ward.
