East ward in Westmorland

The East Ward is one of the wards of Westmorland, forming part of the Barony of Westmorland. As its name suggests, It is situated in the east of the county, bounded to the south and east by Yorkshire; to the north-east by County Durham; to the west by the West Ward; and to the south-west by Kendal Ward. There is also a very short boundary with Lonsdale Ward at the River Lune. The ward had a population of 13,272 in 2011.

The hundred comprises the ancient parishes of:

: Bank Moor is common to the ancient parishes of Crosby Ravensworth (West Ward) and Asby (East Ward), but taken as part of the West Ward.
: Birkbeck Fells is common to the ancient parishes of Orton (East Ward) and Crosby Ravensworth (West Ward), but taken as part of the East Ward. Crosby Ravensworth Fell is common to the ancient parishes of Orton (East Ward) and Crosby Ravensworth (West Ward), but taken as part of the West Ward.
