It is situated in the west of the county, bounded to the west by Gloucestershire; to the north-west by Warwickshire; to the north-east by Bloxham and Banbury Hundreds; to the east by Wootton Hundred; and to the south by Bampton Hundred. It had a population of 21,935 in 2011.
