German is a parish in the Isle of Man, within the sheading of Glenfaba. The town of Peel is the main settlement in the parish. Other settlements include St John's (home of the Tynwald Day ceremony).

Geography

It is a mainly hilly area, apart from a small coastal plain at Peel.

Demographics

The Isle of Man census of 2016 returned a parish population of 966, a decrease of 6% from the figure of 1,024 in 2011.[1] 44 residents (4.3%) were able to read, write, and speak Manx Gaelic at the time of the 2011 census.[2] This compares to 3.2% in 1875.
