Papa Little is an island of Shetland.
Its name is from the Old Norse: Papey Litla, meaning "the little island of the priests (papar)". The name "papar" is often associated in these islands with the Irish priests who were known to have sailed to settle in remote islands, even as far as Iceland.
The island lies at the head of Aith Voe in northwest Mainland, Shetland, south of Muckle Roe. It is largely peat-covered and has been uninhabited since the 1840s.[1]
