Winterburn is a village in the West Riding of Yorkshire, five miles south-west of Grassington, below Winterburn Moor in the ancient Pennine lands known as Craven. This is a tiny village, crammed into the narrow dale of the Winterburn Beck (which flows south from here to join the River Aire at Gargrave.
Winterburn Reservoir is located about a mile from the village, which is situated on Winterburn Beck, the reservoir's outlet.
