Downstream section of Friary Island

Friary Island is an island in the River Thames belonging to Berkshire. It is situated on the reach above Bell Weir Lock, on the approach to Old Windsor Lock at Wraysbury. The island is almost an integral part of the Buckinghamshire bank of the Thames, but a small ditch separates them and carries the county border with it.

It is just across the river from Old Windsor, where there was a Friary from which it took its name.

The island is inhabited, with about 40 houses, and is accessible via a road bridge, albeit not from the rest of Berkshire.
