Austerlands is a suburban village of Saddleworth in the West Riding of Yorkshire. It stands on a hillside amongst the Pennines, between the villages of Lees and Scouthead. The A62 road hurries through it between Oldham and Huddersfield.
Once a mill town, industry has largely moved away. Still standing above the village though as its most prominent landmark is the chimney of the former Austerlands Mill.
In contrast to much of Saddleworth, Austerlands has grown to be contiguous with Waterhead, the villages of Lees and Scouthead and with Springhead in Saddleworth.
