Austerlands is a suburban village of Saddleworth in the West Riding of Yorkshire, adjacent to the border with Lancashire.

It stands on a hillside amongst the Pennines, between the villages of Lees (Lancashire) and Scouthead. The A62 road hurries through it between Oldham and Huddersfield.

Once a mill town, industry has largely moved away. Still standing above the village though as its most prominent landmark is the chimney of the former Austerlands Mill.

In contrast to much of Saddleworth, Austerlands has grown to be contiguous with the conurbation spreading from Oldham, with Lancashire's Lees to the west; and Yorkshire's Scouthead and Springhead to the east.
