The summit of Fionn Bheinn from its east ridge
Range: Torridon Hills
Summit: 3,061 feet NH147621

Fionn Bheinn is a mountain amongs the Torridon Hills of Ross-shire. It rises south of Loch Fannich, facing the Fannichs which stand to the north of the loch. Fionn Bheinn reaches a height of 3,061 feet at its summit, and so it qualifies as a Munro.

The south side of the mountain is a shallow, smooth grassy slope, but its north face is steeper and is considered more impressive.[1] A deep corrie Toll Mor bites deep into the hill side producing steep craggy slopes at the corrie headwall, though as most approach from the south they will miss this fine feature.

The corrie creates on Fionn Bheinn a series of summit ridges, of which the north ridge runs down the west rim of the corrie to Strath Chrombuill below. The eastern ridge splits on the eastern corrie Toll Beag with the northern split dropping to Loch Fannich and the southern branch drops to Druim Dubh.

Ascent

Fionn Bheinn is most often climbed from the village of Achnasheen to the south, with the normal route following the burn called Alit Achadh na Sine to the nose at Creagan na Laogh, and then up the grassy slopes to the summit. An ascent or descent by way of the east ridge is also common, this route giving better views of the north side of the mountain.

The route from Achnasheen in the south ascends up this ridge.
