Sgurr nan Coireachan is a mountain in the Rough Bounds of [Knoydart]] in Inverness-shire. It reaches a height of 3,127 feet at its summit, and so it qualifies as a Munro.
Sgurr nan Coireachan is part of a long east-west ridge running for 7 miles to the south of Loch Quoich and the north of Glen Kingie; Sgurr nan Coireachan lies towards the western end where an extremely craggy western ridge leads to neighbouring Munro, Garbh Chioch Mhor. Its eastern ridge is more subdued, providing a long walk to Sgurr Mor with few difficulties.
A north ridge leads down to the shores of Loch Quoich by way of subsidiary peak, An Eag, and finally a south ridge with manageable slopes drops to Glen Dessary.
Ascent and the ridge
The south ridge is often used as route for ascent and descent.
