Meall Buidhe is a mountain in the wild Knoydart district of Inverness-shire, which reaches a height of 3,104 feet at its summit, and so it qualifies as a Munro.

This is a remote Munro in Knoydart standing between Loch Hourn to the north and Loch Nevis to the south. It is not one of the great Munros by height but for rich in variety and character.

Ascent

Meall Bhuidhe is normally climbed together with its neighbour Luinne Bheinn ("The Looney Bin"), a better-known mountain to the north which is connected by a long craggy ridge to Meall Bhuidhe's east top.

The remote location of Meal Buidhe requires a long hike from any habitation. The expedition can begin from Inverie to the south-west or from Barrisdale to the north-east. From Inverie, a good expedition may be had, taking the boat in from Mallaig.

Summit

The main summit ridge runs west to east; with the actual summit at 3,104 feet is at the western end, and a subsidiary peak rises on the eastern end. The slopes to the north encircle two deep corries with extremely craggy slopes that are well seen from neighbouring Luinne Bheinn. From the summit a long ridge runs north splitting the twain corries to Druim Torc-Choire.

From the summit of Meall Bhuidhe fantastic panoramic views can be achieved in all directions but in particular south to Loch Nevis.
