Luinne Bheinn
Range: Knoydart
Summit: 3,081 feet NG869007
57°2’53"N, 5°30’54"W

Luinne Bheinn is a mountain in the Knoydart district of Inverness-shire, and reaches a height of 3,081 feet at its summit, which qualifies it as a Munro.

Walkers commonly call this mountain "The Looney Bin". It is a remote Munro in Knoydart south of Loch Hourn and Barrisdale.

The mountain has two tops; the western top is the true summit at 3,081 feet, and the eastern top is linked to it by knobbly, craggy summit ridge encircling a corrie, Coire Glas, from which ridge are steep drops to either side.

From the east another craggy ridge runs initially south round the rim of Coire Odhair before heading south-west to the summit of neighbouring Munro, Meall Buidhe

Ascent

The Bin is usually climbed together with Meall Buidhe.

The summit gives a fine, wide view in every direction; to the north is Loch Hourn and the fine sight of Ladhar Bheinn. To get to it though is a trek as Knoydart is remote. It can be approached from Inverie to the south-west or from Barrisdale to the north-east. From Inverie a fine expedition can be mounted; take the boat in from Mallaig. Either direction is a well recommended walk.
