Kirk Michael is a village on the Isle of Man, and the name of one of the three parishes of the Michael Sheading to which it gives a name.
The village is named from its parish church, the Church of St Michael. Today's parish church contains a large collection of Manx Norse crosses.
The village is served by several small local shops, a primary school and a public house, The village pub is The Mitre Hotel, named in connection with Bishop's Court, the former residence of the Bishop of Sodor and Man which stands a mile north of the village. The Mitre was once patronised by Fletcher Christian, the local man who led the mutiny on the Bounty in the South Seas in 1789.
Infrequent bus services from the village run to the towns of Ramsey, Peel and Douglas.
Parish
The wider parish of Kirk Michael stretches from the west coast of the island inland into the hills, to the Sulby Reservoir. It meets the Parish of Ballaugh to the north and German to the south.
