Yarlside is a hill in the Howgill Fells of Westmorland, on the south side of the range: its summit, which reaches 2,096 feet above sea level and is marked with a cairn, is about 500 yards north of the border of Yorkshire.
The Bowlerdale Beck, running north, and several feeders of the Backside Beck, running south, rise on the slopes of Yarlside. Beneath the scree slopes on the south side of the fell is Cautley Spout, a fine waterfall on a tiny stream, the Cautley Holme Beck (a short tributary of the River Rawthey which runs on the south side of Yarlside). This part of the stream's course is known as the "Cautley Spout Tongue".
Since 2016, Yarlside, along with the bulk of the Howgill Fells, has been within the bounds of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, and informally known as part of the 'Westmorland Dales'.
