Westmorland Holme, from the Cumberland bank of the Eamont

Westmorland Holme is a broad meadowland between the River Eamont and the River Lowther at the northern edge of Westmorland: the Eamont here marks the border of Cumberland to the north.

The Holme is almost an island: the Eamont and Lowther surround it to north and south, meeting at the meadowland's eastern end, and at the Holme's western end they curve close to one another almost pinching the Holme off at that end.

West of the Holme is Eamont Bridge village; to the south over the Lowther is Brougham Hall, and by its eastern end, also over the Lowther, are Brougham Castle and the site of Roman Brocavum; while to the north is Penrith in Cumberland.
