St Brides-super-Ely is a village and ancient parish in Glamorgan, located to the west of Cardiff. The suffix "super Ely", descriptive of its situation on the River Ely, is necessary to distinguish this parish from others dedicated to Brigid, namely St Brides Major in its own county; St Brides Netherwent and St Brides Wentlooge in Monmouthshire; and St Brides in Pembrokeshire. It is one of a cluster of parishes in the area that share the suffix, the others being Michaelston-super-Ely, Peterston-super-Ely and St George-super-Ely.
