Gribthorpe is a hamlet in the East Riding of Yorkshire, sitting eight miles north-east of Selby (just across in the West Riding) and five miles north of Howden.
In 1823, Gribthorpe (also known as Gripthorpe), was noted as being in the civil parish of Bubwith and Harthill Wapentake. Population at the time, which included Willitoft, was 145, with occupations including four farmers.[1]
