Todmorden Cricket Ground

Centre Vale is the home ground of Todmorden Cricket Club, and is found at the north end of Todmorden. The town is split down the middle by the border between Lancashire to the west and Yorkshire to the east (the West Riding), the cricket pitch is likewise divided: the county border runs from west to east across the field (which gives Centre Vale the unusual distinction of being a cricket ground with two boundaries).

In the middle of the field there once stood an oak tree, which was known as the "County Oak" as it marked a corner in the county boundary: this remarkable example of a tree actually in the middle of a cricket pitch is no longer to be seen.

The pavilion stands on the south-east side of the ground and is bisected neatly by the county border.

The club was founded in 1837.[1] It plays in the Lancashire League.
