Sgurr nan Coireachan is a mountain in the Rough Bounds of Knoydart in Inverness-shire. It reaches a height of 3,127 feet at its summit, and so it qualifies as a Munro.

Sgurr nan Coireachan is part of a long east-west ridge running for seven miles to the south of Loch Quoich and the north of Glen Kingie; Sgurr nan Coireachan lies towards the western end where an extremely craggy western ridge leads to neighbouring Munro, Garbh Chioch Mhor. Its eastern ridge is more subdued, providing a long walk to Sgurr Mor with few difficulties.

A north ridge leads down to the shores of Loch Quoich by way of subsidiary peak, An Eag, and finally a south ridge with manageable slopes drops to Glen Dessary.

Ascent and the ridge

The south ridge is often used as route for ascent and descent.

The ridge of which Sgurr nan Coireachan is part contains five Munros, which can be bagged together in a day, but a long, tough day it would be, so it may be better to divide it and climb Sgurr nan Coireachan in a round of Sgùrr na Cìche and Garbh Chioch Mhor, both to the west. The walk becomes increasingly more hairy the further west you go with scrambling opportunities a plenty. This is a remote place though, as is all Knoydart, and a long walk is needed to reach it. A possible starting point is from the head of Loch Arkaig to the south.
