Barkston Ash is a wapentake in the east of the West Riding of Yorkshire, adjacent to the border with the East Riding. Surrounding wapentakes are Ouse and Derwent to the east, Osgoldcross to the south and Skyrack to the west. To the north is the city of York. It is named after the meeting-place at the village of Barkston.
