Tom a' Chòinich
Ross-shire, Inverness-shire
Summit: 3,648 feet NH164273

Tom a' Chòinich is a mountain on the border of Ross-shire with Inverness-shire, which reaches a height of 3,648 feet at its summit, and so it qualifies as a Munro.

Its name means "Moss Hill".

Tom a' Chòinich is a fine Munro boasting many superb corries and sharp ridges. It is one of the most eastern Munros in Glen Affric, linked to Toll Creagach in the east and Càrn Eige in the west. The summit is the convergence of 4 main ridges running west, northeast, east and southeast. The northeast ridge runs to Creag Dubh before dropping to Loch Mullardoch. The southeast ridge drops down to Gleann nam Fiadh by way of Creag na h-Inghinn. The east ridge connects to neighbouring Munro, Toll Creagach by way of Bealach Toll Easa. The western ridge sprawls out for several miles to Càrn Eige. All ridges are craggy with steep drops on either side. This is due to a large array of corries encircling the mountain.

Tom a' Choinich is one of the more accessible Munros of Glen Affric due to its close proximity to the minor road running through Glen Affric. Access is normally by way of the connecting ridge from Toll Creagach as the two are normally climbed together leaving the Munros further west for another day. There is parking available at Coille Ruigh na Cuileige on the northern shore of Loch Beinn a' Mheadhoin.
