Talybont and Mawddwy Hundred in Merionethshire

Talybont and Mawddwy is one of the hundreds of Merionethshire. It is bounded to the north-east by Penllyn Hundred; to the north-west by Ardudwy hundred; to the south-east by Montgomeryshire; to the south-west by Estimaner hundred; and to the west by Cardigan Bay. Talybont and Mawddwy hundred had a population of 6,093 in 2011.

It comprises the ancient parishes of:

*: Extends into Montgomeryshire.

Additionally, census reports suggest Llanfihangel-y-Pennant extends into Talybont and Mawddwy hundred.

History

As its name suggests, Talybont and Mawddwy comprises the two ancient hundreds of Talybont, and Mawddwy. Mawddwy was particularly small in size, consisting of just the parishes of Llanymawddwy and Mallwyd.
