Location of the Graham Coast

Graham Coast is the portion of the west coast of Graham Land, part of the British Antarctic Territory, extending 107 miles between Cape Bellue to the south-west and Cape Renard to the north-east.

The coast was discovered by Captain John Biscoe, 17-18 February 1832 and roughly charted by him. Biscoe annexed the land in the name of King William IV on 21 February 1832 and named it 'Graham's Land' after Sir James Graham, then First Lord of the Admiralty. This gives a name to Graham Land as a whole, while 'Graham Coast' has long been the name attributed to this particular tract.

Much inland detail of this coast between Deloncle Bay and Beascochea Bay was roughly mapped in 1909 by the French Antarctic Expedition of 1908-10. The coast was surveyed by the British Graham Land Expedition, August-September 1935. The coast was photographed from the air by the Falkland Islands and Dependencies Aerial Survey Expedition, 1956-57.
