Virginstow is a small village in the west of Devon, climbing out of the valley of the River Carey (which runs southward from here eventually to drop into the River Tamar, marking the border with Cornwall.
The 2001 census recorded a population of just 115.
There is a small church here; St Bridget the Virgin, from which dedication we may assume the village to have been named.
The village is to be found about seven miles north of Launceston (in Cornwall).
