Perfedd is one of the hundreds of Carmarthenshire, located in the north-east of the county, adjacent to the borders with Glamorgan, Brecknockshire and Cardiganshire. It is bounded to the south by Glamorgan; to the south-west by Iscennen; to the north-west by Cayo Hundred; to the north by Cardiganshire; and to the east by Brecknockshire. It had a population of 9,773 in 2011.
It comprises the following ancient parishes:
- Llanddausaint
- Llandeilo Fawr (Llandeilo Fawr villa, Manerfabon, Taliaris, Tyr Escob and Rhosmaen)*
- Llandingat (except Ystrad)†
- Llanfair-ar-y-Bryn
- Llangadock
- Llansadwrn
- Myddfai
