Newby is a village in Westmorland, less than a mile south of Morland, on a beck which drains to the River Lyvennet just north of the latter village.
Newby is about five miles west of the county town, Appleby-in-Westmorland, and seven miles south of Penrith (across in Cumberland). The place had a recorded population of 164 in 2001 and fewer than 100 in 2011.
