Hutton Roof is a village in the very south of Westmorland, to the west of Kirkby Lonsdale and below the Hutton Roof Crags. The parish includes also the hamlet of Newbiggin to the north-west.
The parish population was recorded at 193 in 2011.
Though the name appears unusual, there is another hamlet named Hutton Roof in neighbouring Cumberland.
