Hale is a hamlet near Beetham in the very south of Westmorland, just a mile north of the border of Lancashire (South of the Sands) and three miles west of Lancashire North of the Sands. It stands by the A6 road, between Carnforth to the south and Milnthorpe to the north.
Hale is within the Arnside and Silverdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and nearby are two sites declared to be 'Sites of Special Scientific Interest', namely Hale Moss Nature Reserve[1] and the Hale Moss Caves,[2] both to the south of the hamlet.
The Lakeland Wildlife Oasis, a small zoo whose highlights include snow leopards and leafcutter ants is at Hale.[3] The hamlet is also home to an 1810 coaching inn, The Kings Arms.[4]
