Galmisdale is the main port of the island of Eigg, in Inverness-shire, one of the Small Isles of the Inner Hebrides. Ferries leave Galmisdale pier for Arisaig and Mallaig on the mainland and also the islands of Muck and Rum.
The name is probably derived from the Norse word Galmar-stron meaning 'roaring of the surf'. This can be heard thundering below the rocky cliffs that divide the township of Galmisdale from the sea. The Eigg Post Office is situated in the village. There is also a Café and Bar.
