Copt Hewick is a village the West Riding of Yorkshire.
The village lies about two miles east of Ripon, across the River Ure. The boundary of the the North Riding runs half a mile to the north. The had an estimated population of 180 in 2004, and 253, with Bridge Hewick and Givendale, at the 2011 census.
The name of the village derives from the Old English Coppede heah wic, which means High farm. The 'Copt' element refers to the hill that the village stands on.[1]
