Carn an t-Sagairt Mor from Creag an Loch
Range: The Mounth

Carn an t-Sagairt Mor is a mountain in Aberdeenshire, which reaches a height of 3,435 feet at its summit, and so it qualifies as a Munro. Its name means "Big Priest Hill"; presumably the hill is big rather than the priest but it may be either.

The mountain is in the north-west corner of a large flat plateau known as the Mounth, stretching to Cairn Bannoch in the south-east. The summit is rounded and has little in the way of identifiable features. The western face however drops quite sharply to the head of Loch Callater.

To the north-east there is a wide col leading to Carn an t-Sagairt Beag before heading south-east to the neighbouring Munro of Carn a Choire Bhoidheach. These two Munros are normally climbed together in an easy outing.

Lochnagar to the north-east is often added as well to really make the day. Access to these hills is normally from Glen Callater to the west.

There is parking available just off the A93 at Auchallater Farm, though a long walk awaits to the head of Loch Callater whence a climb may begin up Carn an t-Sagairt Mor's north-west face.
