Calderdale is the valley of the River Calder in the West Riding of Yorkshire. It begins high in the Pennines and descends eastwards and south-eastwards into the industrialised, urbanised parts of the West Riding, to Halifax, Huddersfield, Dewsbury and Wakefield.
Several small valleys contain tributaries of the River Calder, runing into the dale itself to swell the waters of the Calder.
Calderdale is the southernmost of the Yorkshire Dales, and outside the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
