Windy Standard: summit and turbines
Range: Carsphairn Hills
Summit: 2,290 feet NS620014
55°17’15"N, 4°10’28"W

‘’’Windy Standard’’’ is a mountain of 2,290 feet in Kirkcudbrightshire, amongst the Carsphairn Hills. It stands close to the county border with Ayrshire, which is marked here by the infant Water of Deugh, a river rising on Windy Standard’s slopes.

The name of the hill is apparently borne out in its climate, for parts of the slopes are now as festooned with wind turbines as with trees.
