Walston is a hamlet and parish in the Upper Ward of Lanarkshire, close to the border of Peeblesshire. The hamlet is located four miles north-east of Biggar. As well as the eponymous hamlet, the parish contains the village of Elsrickle, located on the A721 road. The ancient name is supposed by some to have been Welston, and derived from the numerous springs here, of which one became celebrated for its efficacy in the cure of cutaneous diseases.
Adjacent parishes are Dunsyre to the north, Dolphinton to the north-east, Biggar to the south-east, Libberton to the south-west and Carnwath to the north-west.
