Hornby is a small village and parish in Richmondshire in the North Riding of Yorkshire. It is located about four miles north-west of Bedale in the wapentake of Hang East. It is not to be confused with Hornby in Allertonshire.
The name of the village derives from Old Norse meaning the farm belonging to Horni.[2]
