Carnlough is a coastal village in County Antrim with a picturesque harbour on the shores of Carnlough Bay. It is a small seaside resort. Carnlough is 14 miles north of Larne, to which it is joined by the A2 Coast Road which runs along the shore of the North Channel.
Carnlough stands at the foot of Glencloy, the second of the nine Glens of Antrim. Above the town the Carnlough Burn runs off the mountain of Little Trosk and a flat, sodden, hill-top moor which stretches toward the River Inver at the head of Glenariff. A group of small loughs on Little Trosk and Big Trosk attract walkers.
The harbour has recently been renovated and is used by pleasure boats and small fishing boats. The area offers many opportunities for both sea angling and fresh water angling.
The town had a population of 1,444 people in the 2001 Census.

History
The harbour was built by the owners of the quarries west of the village. These quarries were connected to the harbour by means of a mineral tramway network, which include a bridge over each of two parallel streets in the village (both of which remain today).
The Londonderry Arms Hotel, formerly owned by Winston Churchill, is located in Carnlough.[1]
