Calcutt is a tiny village in the West Riding of Yorkshire, sitting at the edge of Knaresborough, separated from the town by the River Nidd and its precipitous gorge. To the west if Harrogate.
A tourist attraction, Mother Shipton's Cave is in the wall of the gorge just north of Calcutt, and here too is a reputed 'petrifying well'.
