The village is within the historic area of Archenfield, west of the River Wye, though still east of the Golden Valley, beyond which rise the Black Mountains.
The parish church is dedicated to St. Michael and All Angels.[1]
The village contains both a primary school, which also serves nearby Thruxton,[2] and a secondary school, Kingstone High School.[3]
