Yanwath is a village in the north of Westmorland, in the meadows beside the River Eamont, which here forms the border with Cumberland to the north.
This is a village isolated by the works of man: it nestles against the Settle–Carlisle railway line on its west side, with the M6 motorway to the east, with the river to the north. The village of Eamont Bridge is less than a mile to the north-east, and a mile and half to the north looms the main town, Penrith, on the north bank of the Eamont in Cumberland.
